The National Genealogical Society conference, “Our American Mosaic,” is scheduled May 24-28 in Sacramento. CGS is the local host society! We are pleased to tell you about the CGS members who are among the conference speakers.

TRISH HACKETT NICOLA is a specialist in the Chinese Exclusion Files found at NARA in Seattle. She also focuses on women’s history and Pacific Northwest pioneers. On Saturday, May 28, she presents a case study, “Death or Bigamy? Tracking an Elusive Man Across the United States.” She also joins MARISA LOUIE LEE on Friday, May 27 for a two-part presentation, “Researching Chinese American History Using Chinese Exclusion Records.”

Got questions about the National Genealogical Society’s 2022 Conference? Join the organizers Tuesday, April 12, and ask us anything!

You probably know that CGS is the local host society for Our American Mosaic,” held May 24-28 in Sacramento. You may have heard about the diverse subject tracks that are scheduled, including Western Migration and Western States; Asian American and Pacific Islander; African American; Hispanic and Latin American; DNA; BCG Skill Building; and many more presentations on core genealogy skills and records. You might have heard about the giant Expo Hall, the “Back to the Fifties” bash, the Friday banquet, or area tours including visits to the wine or the gold country. But that’s only the tip of the iceberg.

All are welcome at an online Q&A session via Zoom on Tuesday, April 12. Please bring your questions and we’ll do our best to answer them all.

Early-bird registration (discounted) available through March 31.

Final deadline to register is April 18.

CARLY LANE MORGAN is a CGS Board Member and coordinates social media for CGS. She is the writer and designer of Family Tree Notebooks, a worksheet-based organization system for family historians. On Thursday, May 26, she speaks about “Three Chinese Women in America: Following the Paper Trail.” On Saturday, May 28, she discusses “Organizing Non-Traditional Parent Relationships on the Family Tree.”
