Happy Labor Day! If your holiday weekend plans include genealogy, you may want to take advantage of MyHeritage’s free access to U.S. and Canadian census records this weekend. Both MyHeritage and Ancestry.com are offering discounts on their DNA testing kits for Labor Day as well.

Highlights at CGS this week:

Saturday, September 9: Monthly Board Meeting. Hybrid; in person and via Zoom.

Sunday, September 10: “Doors Open” Open House, 11 a.m-3 p.m. All invited to visit the CGS Library in downtown Oakland, learn about our resources, and get oriented to the library. Volunteers are also wanted to help greet visitors.

It’s not too early to register for our September 30th presentation, Be A Super Sleuth: Accessing and Using Image Records.” Jill Morelli will discuss the rapidly growing collections of digitized records on FamilySearch and offer tips on how to search images that are not yet indexed. Via Zoom.
