Sat., May 11, 1-3 PM: California History and Genealogy Series. Part 1 of 2 (next class is June 8). A joint presentation of CGS and Los Californianos, the series looks at soldiers and settlers in Alta California from 1769 to California statehood in 1850. Attendees will learn about resources and strategies to research early California settlers. Today: Rose Marie Beebe and Robert M. Senkewicz present “A Californio Family in Transition: Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo and Francisca Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo, 1846-1888.” Reception follows.

Wed., May 8, 6:30 PM: Tips & Talk series: “Contacting Cousins: How? Why? (DNA, Photos, Family History and more)” with Jane Lindsey. We all begin our research by finding our ancestors . But cousins, close or distant, may have family information that provides clues to enhancing your research. A longtime CGS member, Jane also volunteers at the OFSC. She loves helping patrons and hopes to get more CGS members to come to OFSC for a visit in 2024!

Wed., May 8, 6:30 PM: CGS Members Roundtable. A forum where CGS members will be able to ask questions of the group about their genealogical research, learn from others, share their research successes, and enjoy a collegial group of individuals interested in learning together. Particularly for new and remote members, this will be an opportunity to meet and feel part of the CGS community.

Sat., May 11, 10 AM: CGS Monthly Board Meeting. All welcome. Held in person and via Zoom.
