Event Recordings: Many past CGS events are recorded and available to members to view free. for They include the California History Series, focusing on life and times in Alta California; Thomas MacEntee‘s class on photo organizing and preservation; a number of tech talks, and more! Special Interest Groups for members meeting this week:

Friday, Aug. 16, 10:30 AM: Mayflower Descendants SIG. Led by Robert Trapp.

Saturday, Aug. 16, 10 AM: San Francisco SIG. with Sandra Huber.

Sat., Aug. 16, 1 PM: Family Tree Maker SIG. Presentation, discussion, and troubleshooting for users of the popular genealogy software. Today’s meeting includes a look at the newest FTM update. Led by Ron Madson and Karen Halfon. Hybrid (held in person and on Zoom).

The Oakland FamilySearch Center also hosts in-person Special Interest Group discussions this month, led by CGS members and others. This week: Sat., Aug. 17, 11 AM: “DNA” with Eric Olson. For the complete schedule, see the Temple Hill calendar.

2024 Salt Lake City Research Trip: September 29-October 5. Spaces are still available for this trip led by Evan Wilson and Stewart Traiman. Includes a six-night stay at the Radisson Hotel, five days of uninterrupted research at the largest genealogical library in the world, pre-trip meeting and consultation, breakfast, and two group dinners.


Library hours: Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM – 2PM.
