Susan is serving her first term on the board. From our website:
Susan’s love for family history got sparked during a conversion with her great grandmother, Mattie Bell Spencer, during a conversation about the different eye colors in their family. This was while she was in high school. Fortunately all four of her grandparents, her great grandmother and great aunt were still living. Having a good start point with stories, photos and puzzle solving skills, she continued to work on her families, sometimes having to take long breaks to go to college and raise a family of her own. Susan is back at it again and helping others expand their knowledge and connections.
One of her favorite ancestors was Mattie Bell Spencer. She was born in 1882 in Woodville, Maine, an agricultural and lumber town. She married three times and had one daughter and one son. Mattie and her family moved from Maine to Minneapolis to Los Angeles to Santa Cruz and to Placerville, California where she died at the age of 94. She had brilliant white hair and played the harmonica.
