It’s a new year full of new learning opportunities! This month’s offerings include the Annual Membership Meeting on January 8, and the California Research Series beginning January 11. Click on links below for details. Check out our Events page for a complete list of upcoming events.
Sunday, January 2: Registration for the Applied Genealogy Institute opens.
Tuesday, January 4: Our regular Intro to Genealogy series kicks off with “Genealogy Basics.” (Note that due to the New Year holiday, this month’s class is held on a Tuesday rather than the usual first Saturday.)
Saturday, January 8: It’s the Annual Membership Meeting! While this will be a virtual rather than an in-person gathering, it’s a great opportunity to hear about the upcoming NGS 2022 Conference, to ask questions and to learn more about what the Society has been up to. Meeting begins at 10 a.m. The Zoom session will open at 9:30 a.m., and CGS members are welcome to join early to socialize with other members.
Tuesdays, January 11- March 22: The California Research Series, presented by the Center for Sacramento History, is a six-part weekly series offering an in-depth look at the genealogical and historical records available at the CSH, the Sutro Library, the California State Archives, and more. A wonderful opportunity for California researchers!
Wednesday, January 12: CGS Members Roundtable. Informal chat on genealogical topics.
There are also two Special Interest Group meetings in January:
Saturday, January 15: Family Tree Maker SIG
Wednesday, January 26: Roots Magic Users Group SIG
