Do you remember when I ordered homestead records (https://www.californiaancestors.org/check-all-the-things-and-how-to-order-land-records/)? Well, guess what came?!?!
HOMESTEAD RECORDS!
Had I not started years ago with his military service, this would have been a gold mine in that department. The entire first half is proving his military service—twice, because apparently once it was lost (and later found and added to the file again). Beyond that, the below was the most exciting to me. Bare minimum proving of the land (must build a 12×12 structure) and some chickens! Having grown up on a chicken ranch, I love that my Miles Price also had some chickens.
