by Jennifer Dix (4/29/2024)

Don’t forget about the two FREE presentations offered this Wednesday, May 1, at the Oakland FamilySearch Center. You can attend in person or via Zoom. Please preregister so we know you’re coming!

At 11 AM (Pacific): “Exploring Hawaiian Records for Genealogical Research” by Cindy Thomson. Cindy will discuss the records available for Hawaiian research and where to find them both online and in Hawaii. Born in Hawaii, Cindy makes frequent trips there and also enjoys assisting others to help advance their family history. She is a retired government economist who specializes in multi-ethnic immigration to Hawaii and early Korean immigration to the U.S., including the historical impact of government policies toward Asians. Her study of her own family history led to a vast project spanning years and encompassing 15 different ethnic groups in Hawaii.

The New England Historic Genealogical Society began with a focus on New England ancestors, but it has vastly expanded. The website contains extensive educational material and databases covering all fifty states and many countries. Matthew Blaine Berry, CG, is on the board of the California Genealogical Society and a trustee of the Board for Certification of Genealogists. His passions are genealogy and the Camino de Santiago.
