Don’t miss this! On Friday, June 23, 3:30-5 p.m., Members of Los Californianos, a nonprofit representing descendants of the Hispanic residents of Alta California (1769-1848). They will discuss the Huntington Library’s Early California Population Project, a database containing baptism, marriage, and burial records of each of the California missions and providing historical information on the Indians, soldiers, and settlers of Alta California. These groups are a benefit of CGS membership; nonmembers are welcome to visit a first class free. You can still catch the recording of the “Excel for Genealogy” class until June 13. There’s also the weekly Wednesday “Tips & Talk” live at the Oakland FamilySearch Center, and more to look forward to! Read on for details…

Wednesday, June 14, 11 a.m.: “Tips & Talk” at the Oakland FamilySearch Center. This week: “Using the FamilySearch Wiki.” Also, learn how to use the Center’s photo and video digitizing equipment. Wednesday, June 14, 6:30 p.m.: CGS Members’ Roundtable. Monthly online gathering where members can discuss their work, ask questions, and share ideas. To register, email Lisa Gorrell or Jacqueline Henderson.

Help wanted! Digitizing our unique records

Volunteers needed! Our tireless Digital Archiving Committee has begun digitization of our entire Vertical Files, a monumental task. We work assembly-line style, scanning, labeling, and indexing, Mondays from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm. We do have snacks and fun as well!
